Mrs Tickly Toes

Welcome

My name is Heather, and I am a specialist reflexologist in the practice of therapeutic support for children and young people; using my background in Psychology and Reflexology to support children and young people through trauma and social and emotional difficulties. I also provide reflexology for adults and children for all diverse types of conditions.

Mrs Tickly Toes provides treatment for adults and children using the techniques and principles of reflexology to help ease diagnosed medical conditions, stress, fertility and a number of health and well-being conditions. Based in Chaddesden Derby, I work from my home practice, and I hope you will feel very welcome when you visit.

Fully qualified Psychologist, MAR Reflexologist, Level 4 CET trainer and Specialist in the therapeutic treatment of children. I am also a Certified Baby and Child Reflexology Practitioner (CBCRP) treating Babies and Children  and a Certified Baby and Child Reflexology Instructor (CPCRI), as well as supporting Fertility and Pregnancy; I take pride in supporting clients and their children on their reflexology journey.

My Story

My story began when I was working with looked after children (children in care) and young people who were struggling to cope with a prospective diagnosis of autism or mental health but who had no understanding of their 'label' and no ownership or tools in their toolkit to help them cope with the emotion attached to this. Many of the young people I was supporting were on a waiting list for mental health assessment and had been for some time. Whilst waiting the adults around them had no techniques to support them and the young people had no way of self-treating; they were in an endless continuum waiting for support. After seeing this for several years I decided to use my interest in complimentary therapies and trained as a reflexologist; so, I could share simple coping techniques with these children and young people to help in their journey to well-being and to relieve stress and trauma.

I have a background in education, raising aspirations, management, charity work and volunteering and have found that many of the children I supported were overwhelmed by the stress and anxiety of modern life- struggling to find their identity, playing to their strengths, and dealing with all the stress and anxiety that being a young person in can bring.

So I decided there must be another less intrusive way than counselling, a more supportive way than a diagnosis and a simple way that young people can take ownership of the issues that face them; So, my therapeutic programmes were born!

I now offer support in many different ways:

*Specialist 121 support for children suffering with trauma, bereavement, conditions such as ME and long Covid, sleep problems and spectrum disorders.

*Mrs Tickly Toes school programme- workshops are delivered in school (primary and secondary) as a class workshop, or one to one and help to support with children who cannot be mainstream educated, those who have a spectrum diagnosis, children experiencing trauma and those on PEP’s. But also support children during exam periods.

*I treat adults in my home practice for various reasons such as menopause, stress, eating disorders, long Covid and musculoskeletal problems.

*Support parents with baby reflexology helping to promote and nurture the new bond you have with your baby, encourage nurtured development, and can help with issues such as sleep, colic and general well-being (trained in Gentle Touch Reflexology with Sue Ricks- not to be confused with Baby Reflex in Dorset).

*I am an advanced practitioner in Fertility Reflexology, pregnancy and post-natal recovery.

*I have written and delivered Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

*Written, and delivered training programmes for adults to be used in schools

*Have coached other reflexologists to start or make more of success of their own business.

I hope you like the sound of my journey and I hope you will be part of the next phase. If you have any questions, I would love to hear from you or come and join me at one of my events in Derby; you can find the details of these events by liking and following me on Facebook or Instagram @mrsticklytoes_

The Benefits of Reflexology

Balance

Reflexology is a wonderful way of maintaining your body's healthy balance and general wellbeing, reducing the stresses and tensions that come with busy lifestyles and giving us a space to reflect on the mind as well as the body.

Relaxation

Reflexology can induce a deep state of relaxation, which improves the effectiveness of the treatment. Relaxing helps relieve tension and aids circulation, increasing the flow of nutrients, oxygen and energy to all parts of the body, and helping with the removal of toxins.

Health

While it is not a cure, Reflexology can be particularly helpful in managing many health conditions, especially constant or recurring ones that we might have come to accept over time as being a normal part of life.
